"SPUR brought together students, faculty and staff to generate new ideas. Now, we need your help in identifying which solutions will work best for our community." – EVC Elizabeth Simmons

On Tuesday, January 30, 2024 The Design Lab – in partnership with Student Affairs and Campus Life and the Office of Research and Innovation – hosted an event to review the projects from teams participating in SPUR: Scaling Paid Undergraduate Research, closing out this inaugural year of collaboration. The event aims to share what we learned during DEVELOP and PRESENT new ideas for feedback and evaluation.

Watch this video to hear Executive Vice Chancellor Elizabeth Simmons share her insights into this campus-wide initiative and her appreciation for “the time and creativity invested by faculty and staff to ensure that students have access to opportunities to engage in meaningful paid research experiences.” Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation Cori Peek-Asa and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Campus Life Alysson Satterlund share their remarks and encourage all community members to provide feedback via our evaluations.

Read a short story and complete a quick form. That's all it takes for you to support our ongoing work.

Students, faculty, management, and leadership collaborated on teams to address the most pressing problems identified during SPUR’s inaugural year. Their work is presented as a series of stories succinctly presenting the problem they addressed and their work toward identifying a potential solution.

On average, each story takes 3 minutes to read, and evaluating the project takes 2 minutes to complete. Please help us understand what you see in each project so that we may make informed decisions moving forward toward our goal of scaling paid undergraduate research at UC San Diego.
